Officially Unemployed

Well folks, I'm back in the game. Looking for work again because I won't be treated like crap and given crap assignments with indefinite end dates at crap wages.

Oh, hell yeah! Way to cheer me up and make me actually excited about my bday!

I need your email address to send you info on my dinner next Sat. night. It's at a Tapas bar, lots of Sangria... Can you email me?

oh, and, hate to say this but, if you don't want crap work assignments or to be treated like crap, I seriously would not recommend law school -- particularly if you'll have significant student loans to pay off. top 20 school plus big loans equals BIG LAW, which is all about treating new associates like crap and making them work long hours and against their ideals. And the whole idea that many entering lawyers have of working 3 or 4 years to pay down the student loans and then taking a public interest law job -- never underestimate the power of those golden handcuffs ... it's hard to say good-bye to 160 a year

(that or i'm jaded about the profession--well, i am, but it doesn't mean i'm wrong ;-)

My bday is Sept. 15.

160K has never been crap wages, at least not from my humble background. It's law or the supermarket for me, I'm NOT going for 6 years of Ivory Tower PhD masturbation bullshit and getting only 60K at most to teach spoiled ass rich kids.

ah, i didn't process your reference to "crap wages" -- so it wasn't crap wages i was referring to when i referenced 160k -- the 160k is the "golden handcuffs" that keep people willingly trapped in a soulkilling position.

:-) you know you can't listen to me re: the law -- if I could have my time and money back and be sitting here with just my lil ole B.A., I would gladly do so -- particularly if it meant another 8 years of having seriously pursued writing.

September 15th? Corporate tax returns. :-)

Yeah, if I had your talent for writing, I'd be sitting here in this "down" time, writing my booty off. But I don't. I considered trying to write but I don't have the patience. I wanted to have something accomplished by my 23rd birthday. That's not really happening. Geez, here I go again.

i finished my law degree at 29 (got a bit of a late start having to make up for stopping HS at 9th grade and then having my son right before my 20th birthday), my tax llm at 30 and was admitted to DC bar at 30 (though only a couple of weeks before my 31st). 23 is way young, my dear, and you already are a very accomplished young woman, IMO. :-)
