That's right. I'm glad you said it before I started being an annoying groupie.

well, you know, there are lots of projects i've dropped merely because my overall reader response is so minimal i figure why bother ... so, if no one acts like a groupie, i may never finish another book

Don't say something like that! Shouldn't you be writing for the pleasure of writing? Sorta like I'm blogging for the pleasure of having a one way convo with you?

do architects build structures to sit empty? for the pleasure of building it?

writing purely for the pleasure of writing is an industry platitude - many many writers will cry "no it's not!" but they're fooling themselves -- writers write to be read ... there's a line I love in The United States of Leland where Don Cheadle's character says "You're not really a writer unless someone's reading your shit." My husband about fell out of his chair when Cheadle said it -- he didn't expect any secondary confirmation, particularly at such a level, of my opinion.

What is the purpose of a manuscript other than to be shared? One person said to compare how they've grown from point X to point Y -- I personally think that's bullshit no matter how much the person believes it.

i love don cheadle, even besides hotel rwanda, and i would fantasize about him more if he were taller.
