Moving on

After much debates and late night IMs, as well as some minimal attempts at redesign, I've decided to start a new blog just for Jozi. Now, Jo, you make a good case, this is already a blog very much bookmarked by my fellow readers. And I love all 7 of you. But I'm about to get an increase in traffic, and to be honest, I don't know that I want members of the Rancho Cucamonga Rotary Club to be privy of my archives here at the blogspot. So I'm moving to my Wordpress blog. Since the update of Wordpress, I find it a lot more fun to use than Blogger. There are also more advantages:

1) A cuter blog (once I re-design)

2) More fun features (check out the avatars, Livesearch, I'm going to implement Live Commenting and fix a couple more bugs)

3) Registering - this will protect me from weirdos reading supersecret journal entries. With password protected posts, I can really let you all know what's going on, without worrying about being potentially stalked by some crazy who falls in love with my avatar (oh how the Scholarship can go to one's head)

4) Hosted on my own sub-domain and archived on my site, it's a bit easier for me to deal with saving posts

5) It's a fresh start, and if anything, I hope this year will be the beginning of something new

Now, my friends, the question I have for you: Do you really want me to keep a separate place where I post the "juicy" stuff, or are you ok with just dealing with the "intellectuatlized" aspects of the Jozi journal? And I promise, this IS a question where I will defer to the majority.

Sorry if this post is weird. I'm listening to Nas' God Son, and I can never really focus cuz I'm too busy singing along (Damn, I wish I took more time to write...in book of rhymes).

Ok, you wanna know where the Jozi place is? http://jozi.nerase.com Please comment, as I'm testing out a lot of the features, and it helps to have the comments to test them out.

I'm opening myself up right now becaue the blog is nowhere near ready, and I'm giving myself the full 2 weeks before it will be ready to go. But I wanted to give you all the treat of watching my progress. I hope you enjoy it, and feel free to comment throughout.

i think it's great, dynamic, engaging ... i like the big banner and the easy to read links (for the grand aunts? :-) and the font -- it's very energetic without being overwhelming ... ya just gotta promise to update often

also, i love you for your mind, so the intellectualized bits are good, the juicy bits...TMI ;-)

hey, can you tier access? gotta be careful with that, thinking you've put something at a higher tier and you mom finds out YOU DID THAT ... but tiered access can be lovely when it works

also, is it possible to have an update notification? I am spending less and less time online ... I want to know when you post

Ann,

I'm gonna scale down the banner, and offer password protected posts (I think). I'm not sure how much I want to put on the main blog about my "experience", we'll see how I'm feeling. I may just keep this as my special spot for you all.
